Mornflake created a stir with Royalty, judges and celebrities in the famous Great Pavilion at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week, scooping a Silver-Gilt Medal for our acclaimed floral exhibit.
We unveiled a stunning recreation of Cholmondeley Castle’s iconic ‘Temple Garden’ at the world’s leading flower show. The exhibit celebrates our shared passion for the British landscape and produce.
Crowds flocked to what is believed to be the first ‘Northern’ garden of its kind to be shown in the famous Great Pavilion at RHS Chelsea. Expert and unique planting was praised by judges and admired by celebrities and members of the Royal family, including Princess Alexandra, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy.
This prestigious award joins our Gold Medal for Best Show Garden at their RHS Tatton Park Flower Show debut in 2012.
Representing the agricultural foundations that shape the Cholmondeley Estate and independently owned and run by the Lea family since 1675, Mornflake has been a fierce supporter and pioneer of British land and food for over 340 years.
RHS Shows Judging Manager, Joanna Shirley, said: “the Judges felt that the exhibit was well designed with a high degree of attention to detail that creates an interesting and engaging display. It is wonderful to see two such organisations working together in partnership to produce such a creative and high calibre feature at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
John Lea, Managing Director of Mornflake, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Silver-Gilt Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It is both an honour and a pleasure to exhibit in The Great Pavilion, celebrating our roots in the land that has shaped the history and longevity of both Mornflake and the Cholmondeley Estate.
“After 15 family generations of milling oats grown from British soil, we are proud to celebrate our mutual passion for the land that surrounds and unites our two families”.
Award-winning Head Gardener and project leader, Barry Grain, of Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, said: “The RHS Chelsea Flower show is arguably one of the finest in the world. It is an absolute honour to be accepted to exhibit and to come away with a Silver-Gilt Medal is beyond our wildest dreams.
“The Cholmondeley Castle Gardens’ team has worked exceptionally hard to get the garden together, from months of planting and preparation to hours of building in the run up to the show so, for them, the team at Mornflake and Lord Cholmondeley, I am truly thrilled with the result.”
