Chocolate Ghost Granola Bars

Chocolate Ghost Granola Bars

A ghoulishly good combination of oats and chocolate, these fun chocolate ghost granola bars make the perfect Halloween snack for all ages!

Cooking Time 30 minutes
Skill Level Medium
Serves Makes 6 bars

Ingredients

THE GRANOLA BASE

30g melted butter

4 tbsp maple syrup

2 1/2 cups Mornflake Jumbo Scottish Oats

Sprinkle cinnamon

THE MIXTURE

40g butter

4 tbsp peanut butter

4 tbsp maple syrup

TO TOP

200g dark chocolate

100g white chocolate

Sugar eyes

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 180C.
  • First, make your granola. Add your butter and maple syrup to a pan, melting on medium heat until just melted.
  • Add your jumbo oats to the pan and mix completely until all oats are coated.
  • Pour onto a baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes, shuffling around every 10 minutes so it bakes evenly.
  • Once your granola is baked, leave to cool for 15 minutes.
  • Heat your peanut butter, butter and maple syrup in a pan until all combine, then add to a mixing bowl with your granola.
  • Line a square baking tin, then pour in your granola mixture, spreading evenly and flattening out with the back of a spoon. You want to press this mixture down quite firmly, so the mixture doesn’t crumble when cut.
  • Melt your dark chocolate and spread evenly over the top, then melt your white chocolate, adding 6 spoonfuls randomly to the top of the dark chocolate.
  • Spread, using the back of the spoon, the bottom of each circle, dragging it out to a point – this should leave you with the shape of a ghosts body.
  • Use a toothpick to drag the white chocolate out and downwards around the side of each of the bodies, to make the ghosts arms, then add eyes to each of them.
  • Refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or overnight, then cut up and serve.
  • Keep in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
