50g cold butter, cubed

2 heaped tbsp (50g) of plain flour

1 tbsp oat flour (Mornflake Superfast blended)

2-3 tbsp cold water

3 apples

1 tbsp sugar

Method

Peel your apples, then core them and cut them into chunks.
Add to a medium saucepan on medium-low heat, with a tiny splash of water, some cinnamon and your sugar. Leave covered with a lid to cook for
Whilst your apples cook, make your crisp.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Add your flour and oat flour (Mornflake Superfast blended) to a bowl, then add your cubed, chilled butter & use your fingertips to rub together until you end up with the texture of fine breadcrumbs.
Once you have fine breadcrumbs, add 1 tbsp of cold water at a time, mixing between each addition until you have a crumbly dough – you should only need 2-3 tbsp.
Once your apples have softened, use a potato masher to mash the apples until they have an apple sauce texture, but leave some chunks for texture too.
Pour your apples into your skillet/serving dish, then top with your apple crisp – we bunched the crisp together slightly to make a thick sheet of pastry that sat on top.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the crisp has turned golden brown, and the apples are caramelised.
Remove from the oven and leave to rest for two to three minutes to cool, then serve up with ice cream or custard.
