If you’re struggling to keep the kids entertained and homework’s not doing the trick, why not take a trip to the family friendly Eureka children’s museum? With its focus on play-based learning, the award winning Halifax-based education centre is an enjoyable day out for all ages.
The main museum consistsof over 100 hands on exhibits throughout six different galleries. In the Sound and Space section, your children can explore the physics of sound through music and echoes. For babies and toddlers, the Desert Discovery gallery is perfect- it’s a specially designed soft playhouse for smaller tots. Kids can play in the caves, visit the story time tent with its ceiling of stars, or learn about different shapes and textures.
Other museum sections include, Me and My Body, which teaches biology in a fun interactive environment; Our Global Garden, which introduces green living and recycling; the Sound Garden, a safe play area for younger children and Living and Working Together, a gallery which allows kids to explore the adult world of working.

Dragging the kids away from their games consoles can be a challenge, but Treejumpers Adventure Centres has the perfect solution for a fun, active family day out. The Kent based company, which currently operates weekend and holiday sessions at the Bluewater Shopping Centre, is launching a new multi activity centre at one of the county’s top tourist attractions, the Hop Farm Family Park.

For all the little daredevils out there, the Hop Farm will offer high ropes, a giant 3G swing, power fan and a zip wire. But if heights make you queasy, don’t worry, there’s plenty of ground based adventure activities including archery, caving, air rifles, mountain biking, quad biking, paintballing and orienteering. In 2010 Treejumpers will also be introducing water sports such as canoeing, raft building and hydroballing.
For a great day out, why not combine your trip to Treejumpers with a visit to the farm? The barnyard animals, vintage carousel and legends in wax exhibition will delight children of all ages.
