Preparing the Cherries (the night before)
Place half the can of cherries and 200ml of syrup into a shallow lidded container.
Pour two tablespoons of dark berry liqueur over the cherries.
Seal the container with the lid and place in a fridge overnight, allowing the liqueur to infuse into the cherries.
For the Porridge:
Put the oats into a large, deep saucepan.
Pour the infused juice from the container into the saucepan.
Add the water and vanilla and stir thoroughly.
Place the saucepan over a high heat and cook the oats, stirring constantly, for 2 mins.
Then reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to cook for a further 2-3 mins or until you have a nice thick Porridge consistency.
Spoon the Porridge into bowls.
Garnish with the liqueur infused cherries.
Drizzle the cream and serve hot for a luxury Valentine 's Day Porridge.
