Porridge doesn't always have to be saintly, so at Valentines why not indulge your more decadent side with this adults only recipe. With dark cherries and dark berry liqueur this is a luxuriant Porridge and a recipe that shows the darker side to Porridge.

    Preparing the Cherries (the night before)

    Place half the can of cherries and 200ml of syrup into a shallow lidded container.

    Pour two tablespoons of dark berry liqueur over the cherries.

  3. 3

    Seal the container with the lid and place in a fridge overnight, allowing the liqueur to infuse into the cherries.

    For the Porridge:

    Put the oats into a large, deep saucepan.

  5. 5

    Pour the infused juice from the container into the saucepan.

    Add the water and vanilla and stir thoroughly.

  7. 7

    Place the saucepan over a high heat and cook the oats, stirring constantly, for 2 mins.

    Then reduce the heat to a simmer and continue to cook for a further 2-3 mins or until you have a nice thick Porridge consistency.

    Spoon the Porridge into bowls.

    Garnish with the liqueur infused cherries.

    Drizzle the cream and serve hot for a luxury Valentine 's Day Porridge.
