Chocolate fruit art porridge

Porridge in the morning is popular with adults and children, but only if it requires as little hands on time as possible (isn’t there enough to do in the mornings without stirring a pot?) and looks good too (to ensure clean bowls from the kids).

Step forward a healthy, delicious, fun and importantly, stress free breakfast… microwave chocolate porridge. Now this isn’t as much of a treat as it sounds, though maybe don’t let the kids know. Just a little cocoa powder makes this easy microwave porridge super-chocolately. And the fruit art? Children love it, but if you’re in a rush maybe save it for the weekend.

  1. 1

Stir together the oats, milk and water in a large microwaveable bowl.

  2. 2

Cover and microwave on high for 4 minutes, stirring half way through.

  3. 3

Stir through the cocoa powder, add honey or maple syrup if you wish and lastly arrange the fruit over the top to look like an owl, bear or any other animal you can conjure!

NB: Leave the cocoa out for plain porridge, or add some red berries for a pink variety.
