A Mornflake Breakfast alfresco where our oats are grown! It doesn't get much better than that!
On 1st July we spent the morning with some of the UK's top foodie and lifestyle bloggers so they could see the journey of Mornflake oats from seed to bowl, ensuring the best of the harvest, with full provenance in every pack.
We had breakfast in one of our oat crops with farmers, Hartley and Liz Rushton, at Whittakers Farm, Cheshire. Hartley and Liz have been contract farming Mornflake oats for over a decade, so we couldn'tthink of a better place to take our new friends to learn first-hand the aged methods in growing our oats.
The morning started off with Mornflake bircher muesli munching, granola crunching, oaty bread devouring and lots of chit chatting over a good cup of tea, all in the great outdoors!
We then headed back to the mill, where John Lea and his son, James, chatted through the years of milling practise that has been kept in the Lea family for over 340 years, followed by an exclusive tour around the mill, where our oats are milled into over hundreds of different variations, before being packed into a box, ready for your breakfast bowl! It was certainly a busy day!
